Škoda Transportation’s Support of Education and Cooperation with Universities
Škoda Transportation employs a broad set of activities to promote education and support students, with a particular focus on engineering and related fields.
The company’s Students and Work Experience Project aims to give secondary school students a taste of what technical careers are like. Participating students come to Škoda Transportation and are assigned to a real project where they contribute to work alongside the company’s employees. The Trainee Program intended for those who decide to study a technical subject at university is a highly prestigious and popular option that combines an internship with university studies.
The Emil Škoda Prize is awarded annually by Škoda Transportation in cooperation with prominent university teachers, and the ČVUT MediaLab Foundation is given to the best technical theses published that year, with the winning authors receiving financial prizes. https://www.skoda.cz/cena-emila-skody/
Škoda Transportation cooperates with and financially supports Czech technical universities and subsidizes the publishing activities of their professors.
For several years, Škoda Transportation has also been a regular presence at the DESIGN+ Project organized by the University of West Bohemia where students learn to work together in interdisciplinary teams to solve tasks assigned by industrial companies. Many of those who participate then go on to a successful career with Škoda Transportation.
Škoda Transportation has also repeatedly supported the “Experience Cambridge” program where secondary school students applying for admission to Cambridge can experience a week-long stay at the university where they shadow students and professors in their intended field. It is also an opportunity for them to engage with the admissions department to get all the information they need about the admissions process and timeline to alleviate any of their fears. This increases Czech students’ chances of being admitted to this prestigious university. http://cucss.uk/
