“PPF Group acquired the O2 arena in late 2013, early 2014, and thanks to Mr Kellner I had the privilege of taking on the development of this entire sector. The concept that gradually emerged included the O2 universum congress centre and now STAGES HOTEL Prague. I look forward to all these facilities working at full capacity and in the interest of the community, as envisioned in a post-COVID world. Our goal is to make this area a major centre for Prague 9, and opening the hotel has concluded the first part of this regeneration project. The next phases, including improving transport access, are yet to come. We have to coordinate with the Prague 9 municipal office and the City of Prague, which own several of the surrounding plots,” commented Ladislav Chvátal from the PPF Group, which owns Bestsport.
Also taking part in the grand opening were Tomáš Portlík, the mayor of Prague 9, Aleš Lapka from ADR Architectural Studio, which designed the hotel, and Petr Syrovátko, owner of the construction company Syner. The hotel’s design incorporates musical motifs, even down to the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the grand opening. Guests were surprised to find themselves cutting the ribbon from a cassette tape.
The CEO of STAGES HOTEL Prague reminded listeners of the unique connection between the three facilities. “This synergy formed the primary concept in designing STAGES HOTEL Prague, with the smallest details reflecting the theme of music and the energy from the international concerts held regularly in the O2 arena. The atypical circular floor plan shows a clear connection to the largest concert stage in the Czech Republic just a few steps from the hotel. In February 2022 world-famous composer Hans Zimmer will be performing a show in the O2 arena. His team and orchestra will stay in our hotel and rehearse the whole programme for several days before the concert in the O2 universum. That is the ideal symbiosis we would like to achieve with as many events as possible,” said Otakar John, CEO of STAGES HOTEL Prague.
The high standards of quality and services, along with the unique lifestyle design of STAGES HOTEL Prague also helped lead to a franchise agreement with Marriott Hotels International and its lifestyle hotel brand Tribute Portfolio in April this year. “Being part of the Marriott International chain carries with it a great deal of prestige as well as a huge obligation to adhere to strict quality standards that make Marriott hotels some of the best in the world,” added Otakar John.
The hotel’s reservation system opened several weeks ago and the first guests arrive on November 1.
STAGES HOTEL Prague offers 300 rooms with 27 suites, as well as a wide range of facilities including six multipurpose conference rooms, a modern Backstage Bar with an outdoor terrace and stylish restaurant, access to an indoor atrium with a total capacity of 270 guests, and a music lounge. It also has a fitness centre and underground parking for 100 cars.
