Besides the parent company in Pilsen, &Scaron;koda Transportation Group also manages several subsidiaries across the Czech Republic, making it a&nbsp;major employer of skilled labor in many of the country&rsquo;s regions.&nbsp;
The company also owns and manages joint ventures and subsidiary labels abroad, including &Scaron;koda Transtech in Finland and other companies in Germany, Russia, and Hungary. &Scaron;koda also celebrated its 160th anniversary last year.&nbsp;

&Scaron;koda Transportation&rsquo;s vehicles are environmentally friendly, run exclusively on electricity, and produce zero emissions. As part of its development strategy, &Scaron;koda Digital was established in July 2019 to develop digital, control, and diagnostic systems for vehicles. Later that year, a&nbsp;new joint venture was formed in Russia with Sinara Group, the current number two on the local rolling stock market.

&Scaron;koda is a&nbsp;major Czech exporter, with as much as 60% of its orders shipped abroad. Its most significant export contracts from the recent past include last year&rsquo;s deal that saw 26 trams bound for the German city of Bonn and 32 modern single-deckers that went to Latvia.&nbsp;
&Scaron;koda Transportation is the new supplier of metro trains worth CZK 8 billion to the city of Warsaw. Closer to home, &Scaron;koda won contracts with Česk&eacute; dr&aacute;hy for the supply and maintenance of electric RegioPanter units. &Scaron;koda and its affiliate Temsa secured a contract to manufacture 14 electrical coaches for DPP, Prague's public transportation company. In 2019, the contract to maintain Prague metro trains (on the A and B lines) was renewed for another 15 years.
&Scaron;koda Transportation Group is continuously investing into research and development. In 2020, its production capacities at Ostrava-based &Scaron;koda Vagonka were significantly extended as it launched the construction of new facilities (called Nov&aacute; Vagonka) costing CZK 1&nbsp;billion. The project will double the production area as well as the number of employees. &nbsp;
In 2020, it signed an agreement for the purchase of Ostrava's Ekova Electric where it plans to build a&nbsp;new competence center and make extensive additional investments. It completed further substantial capital projects in Pilsen and &Scaron;umperk, where it is now hiring over 2,000 new employees.&nbsp;
